Because greenDatacenter Zurich West is a new building, all requirements for a secure Tier 3 data center could be taken into account at the very beginning. An experienced security expert supervised the construction to ensure a secure data center. This level of redundant infrastructure is unique in Switzerland.

Entry protection:

• Electronic monitoring of all doors
• Recording of all entries
• Internal and external surveillance cameras
• Right of entry only for authorized, registered persons
• Biometric entry control (hand vein scanners)
• Separate security zones
• Separate personnel and goods interlocks

Power and cooling:

• Redundant air conditioning: two circuits and redundant air conditioners
• Own transformers and four diesel generators (all in the building) for at least 7 days of autonomous emergency power
• Power fed in via a redundant energy infrastructure (feed A/feed B)

Fire protection:

• Flame resistant materials
• Separate fire protection zones and walls
• 24/7 electronic monitoring of premises with smoke/heat detectors
• Early fire detection
• Automatic extinguishing
